Welcome to the Bittersweet Ski Patrol Website

The National Ski Patrol (NSP) founded in 1938 has followed its creed of “Service and Safety” since the establishment of skiing as a popular sport in the United States. The NSP is dedicated to serving the public and outdoor recreation industry by providing education and accreditation to emergency care and safety service providers. The organization is composed of more than 28,000 members serving over 650 patrols worldwide. The National Ski Patrol is a nonprofit organization and provides it’s services to skiers free of charge.

The Bittersweet Volunteer Ski Patrol is an established member of the NSP, serving the ski/ride public at Bittersweet Resort since 1982. We are a volunteer organization with a current roster of 130 ski patrollers, coming from all walks of life with the passion for skiing and helping others. 

Located in Southwest Michigan, the Bittersweet Resort is home to the Bittersweet Ski Patrol, recently named the 2017-2018 Central Division Outstanding Large Patrol as well as 2013-2014 Outstanding Alpine Large Patrol.  We also were given recognition for having one of our own named 2017-2018 Outstanding OEC Instructor.

National Ski Patrol members support the resort management in preparing the slopes of Bittersweet Resort in the morning, rescuing and caring for injured guests throughout the day and making sure everyone gets down safely when the area closes. Sure it’s a long and often busy day, but there’s nothing more rewarding than putting in a day’s work while having a good time and making lifelong friends in the process. Besides, it sure beats spending your weekend sitting on the couch!

We’re a different breed. When it comes to being a ski patroller, there is no mold. There are however, some common traits and similar interest that all patrollers share. National Ski Patrol members have a strong desire to help others, learn emergency care techniques, improve their skiing and snowboarding skills, while enhancing the safety and enjoyment of snow sports for all.
